Dear Bill,
On behalf of all of us, I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your most generous treatment of the billing in the XXX matter. You have always been a considerate and staunch ally as well as a respected counselor. It is doubtful that we could have accomplished all that we have without your advice and help.
Again, thank you.

A thank you for an estate matter
December 8, 2005
Dear Bill,
I just wanted to take this opportunity to thank you and your law firm for the outstanding work which you did on behalf of my Mother. First, thanks to the late Bob Atkinson for his early work and then for calling Russo & Burke, informing them of my mother's death and second, the luckiest stroke of all, your assigning Elisabeth Hessler to our account.
Words fail me to express adequately how wonderful Esliabeth was to work with. She managed to make every step of the process easy for me to understand and carry out. Without her I would have been at a complete loss. She is professional, warm, on top of every vagary in the process and, most important of all, able to communicate what has happened, what is happening, and what will be happening. No unpleasant surprises. We really made a very cohesive team, which is the key to success as far as I am concerned. I value her as someone whom I would always want to be with in the trenches. And we managed to have some laughs along the way.
Also, I am well-aware that you made financial sacrifices to be able to help get everything done, due to the limited amount of resources within the estate. I am eternally grateful to you on behalf of my entire family, all of whom have heard your praises sung.
Hope your holidays are very happy and fulfilling ones and that the New Year holds nothing but success for you and your firm.

A thank you for pro bono work
Nov. 29, 1995
Dear Messrs Russo and Brewer:
John and I just want to thank you and say how much we appreciate your generous efforts on our behalf. It helped us greatly when we didn't know where to turn for help. If we possibly could we would have paid you something for your efforts, but we are truly in dire straights. It looks like bankruptcy is our only alternative. We see no way out even as distasteful as this is for us.
If we ever get on our feet again, we want to reimburse you for your time and efforts. When that will be, God only knows.
Thank you both again for your good wishes and kind help.

Dear Mr. Russo,
We would like to take this opportunity to express our sincere thanks for the many hours of time you have spent so far on our behalf in our attempt to be represented with honesty and dignity.
It is especially significant to us since we see you as a symbol of parental support, rather than just our attorney. Thank you and Mrs. Russo for all you have done for us, and indirectly for the student's of St. Clare School.

A note of thanks from New York Congressman Honorable Vito Fossella…
Dear Bill,
Just a short note to thank you for the wonderful friendship and support you have given me during this campaign for congress. Without special friends such as you, I would not be able to attempt such an undertaking.
Once again, thank you for everything. We are fortunate to have such caring friends and neighbors and will never forget everything you have done.
Sincerely,
Vito

On the appointment of William J. Russo to the Great Kills Ferry Task Force by Borough President Guy V. Molinari
Dear Bill:
I am pleased to inform you of your appointment to the Great Kills Ferry Task Force.
I share your interests and that of most Staten Islanders to maintain the quality of life in our neighborhoods, as well as to ensure that our Harbor can be safely used by boaters, fishing enthusiasts, and other residents. At the same time, I acknowledge that high-speed ferries can provide a long awaited and much needed commuting option for thousands of South Shore residents who travel to Manhattan each day for work. As such, I am obligated to explore this and other high-speed ferry proposals fully as we move forward in providing Staten Islanders with more convenient, quicker transportation alternatives.
In response to community concerns, I was asked by Councilman Vito Fossella to convene a Task Force to review the various environmental, traffic, and other issues that residents have articulated. Although high speed ferry service is desperately needed for South Shore residents, it is imperative to look closely at the impact it may have on surrounding communities.
Thus, your appointment to the Task Force is both timely and significant. I am, therefore, pleased to announce that the first Task Force meeting is scheduled for March 31, 1997 at 3:30p.m. in Conference Room 122.
I encourage your active participation in an endeavor that will significantly affect the future of Staten Island for its visitors and its residents.
I look forward to working with you in the coming weeks.
Sincerely
Guy V. Molinari
Borough President

Dear Bill,
Thank you very much for stepping in at the last minute and making the appearance at the adoption proceeding for Karen and me.
I know Bob appreciated completing this process too. Karen and I are delighted to have accomplished this goal and in the final analysis - we couldn't have done it without you.

A Thank you from Borough President Guy v. Molinari for William J. Russo's service on the Great Kills Ferry Task Force
July 23, 1997
Dear Mr. Russo:
I am pleased to forward you this copy of the Report of the Great Kills Ferry Task Force. Let me take this opportunity to thank you for contributing your time and effort to the Task Force. It is through the efforts of citizens such as yourself that the true meaning of participatory democracy is realized.
I hope you will agree with me, whatever your particular viewpoint regarding commuter ferry service in Great Kills harbor may have been, that this process of public discussion, initiated by my office at the request of Councilman Fossella, was valuable and informative. I also hope that it will have served to assure you that your elected officials are vigilant in their concern for the well-being of the Island's many unique communities and stand ready to provide assistance and direction to those communities to inform, clarify, and resolve outstanding issues.
Sincerely,
Guy V. Molinari
Borough President

Dear Bill:
Thank you so much for sharing your views on attorneys with our producers. The feedback was excellent.
I have included some information that you might find of interest and value. Our home office legal department publishes Legal and Tax Trends for the field force. Stacy Wolfe, the head of our legal and business department, wrote the client brochure on Estate Planning. I think you will agree with his approach.
Again, thanks for giving us your time and talent.

A thank you to the Federation of Catholic Teachers for a gift in William Russo's name.

Mrs. Michelle MacDonald
President
Federation of Catholic Teachers
50-52 New Drop Plaza
Staten Island, NY 10306
Dear Mrs. MacDonald:
It was a pleasure speaking with you today. We are most grateful that the Federation of Catholic Teachers intends to make a contribution of $1,000 in Bill Russo's name to Xaverian High School. As we discussed on the phone, this contribution will support student scholarships at Xaverian High School.
As you know, Xaverian High School is one of New York City's leading Catholic college preparatory schools for young men. Xaverian's rigorous curriculum includes honors programs in math, science and the humanities and an International Baccalaureate Program. In addition to its accelerated programs for gifted students, Xaverian is particularly proud of the REACH Program, which prepares learning disabled students for college. Xaverian is the only Catholic high school in New York State to offer such a program, which has successfully graduated a total of 60 students, who have all been accepted to four-year colleges.
Unlike other leading private schools in the New York city area, more than 50% of Xaverian's student population comes from single-parent and working-class families. Of the 1,300 boys currently enrolled, more than half qualify for scholarships and financial aid.
With annual tuition at $6,800 per student, Xaverian relies heavily on the support of private donors who establish scholarships for deserving students. I thank you for honoring one of our most distinguished graduates, Bill Russo, by providing a scholarship for a promising Xaverian student.
Sincerely,
Salvatore Ferrera, PhD.
President
